This charming vintage pair of Hyottoko and Okame pottery ornaments hails from Japan’s Showa era, making it a delightful and colorful addition to any home decor. Hyottoko wears a mustard kimono, while Okame is dressed in a green kimono with a red apron, together creating a vibrant display. Hyottoko, a comical male figure, is the protector of fire, while Okame, a symbol of good fortune, is known for bringing happiness into the home. Together, they are considered to bring harmony and joy to the household, making them symbols of a prosperous and happy life. Standing at approximately 15 cm tall, these unique vintage items come from the personal collection of j-okini’s owner’s grandfather (1919–1998). Carefully preserved since the 1990s, each piece holds cultural significance and has been well cared for over the years.
