Description CARL SCHMIDT SOHN A-G, SOLINGEN in a circle with a house TM. In both Ralph Siegert’s SA Dagger Books and the “McSarr” rarity scale, this maker is ranked as a “9” out of “10” reflecting production numbers of approximately 1000. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show light wear with reverse lower crossguard marked “Ns” for Sturmabteilung. Reddish-brown, fine-grained wooden grip shows light surface wear with one chip on reverse side near the lower crossguard. Silver grip eagle and SA insert are properly inset. Mirror polished blade grades EX /EX showing surface wear/runner marks and speckling with no nicks or cuts to the cutting edge. Tip of blade remains intact. Deeply etched motto retains 100% of the light gray background frosting. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains approximately 60% of the brown anodization. Nickel-silver scabbard fittings show surface wear with dent to ball. Reverse side of upper scabbard fitting is stamped with “Br. 16 20960 Slandarte R. 34”. All screws are intact. Brown leather hanger shows normal age/wear and the hanger clips works.
