Early SS Dagger by Gottlieb Hammesfahr with Portepee (32880)

Description An extremely rare, well-preserved SS Model 1933 Service Dagger with acid-etched moto on the obverse side of blade inscribed with “MEINE EHRE HEIßT TREUE” (“MY HONOR IS LOYALTY”).  The reverse ricasso bears a maker’s mark of “GOTTLIEB HAMMESFAHR, SOLINGEN-FOCHE”. The blade has some normal runner marks and tiny pitting on reverse side, but overall is in EXC condition and the tip remains intact.   The crossguard fittings are nickel and bear the “P & A” symbols inside the crossguards with the lower crossguard bearing the Roman numeral “II” stamped on the reverse side (Dresden district). The grip is composed of a single piece of black lacquered wood.  The silvered German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika and the SS rune are properly inset in grip.  The anodized scabbard shows normal wear due to age and has the nickel-silver upper and lower fittings and all four screws.  Complete with portepee in MINT condition.
