4th – 5th Century Celtic Bronze Dagger A Celtic bronze dagger with remaining fittings of the original scabbard, which originates from the Celts in Macedonia. The Celts have a very rich history through Europe, Gallic groups, originating from the various La Tène chiefdoms, began a south-eastern movement into the Balkans from the 4th century BC. Although Gallic settlements were concentrated in the western half of the Carpathian basin, there were notable incursions and settlements within the Balkans. The dagger is comprised of a simple design having a heavy duty bronze blade, with simple bronze guard and a very interesting bronze pommel. This dagger which has had some restorations done to the handle but is in overall excellent condition. The dagger is also accompanied with the remains of the original bronze fittings.
