17th – 19th Century European Lion heads Pommel Sword This interesting sword is fitted with a double edge blade and has a renaissance design having a all iron hilt with embossed guard and a pommel shaped like a lion. The detail and beauty of this hilt really show the skill of the iron smith who made this piece. The pieces appears to have been used as some form of Parade sword. The sword blade is a double edge design but interestingly only around 30 percent of the edge is sharpened starting at the tip. The blade engraved with floral patterns. An interesting sword.
