17th Century Northern Italian Sword Private Collection! This rarely seen type of Italian sword, having a clamshell guard and a heavy duty fighting blade with a flared / wasped tip. This rarely seen sword very rarely can be seen outside of museum collections, this sword has been well preserved over the years. This was crafted by the finest smiths / artisans and is of the highest quality. The grip is made of wood with wire binding and iron struts. The guard is a clam shell guard with knuckle bow, finger guards and a smaller rear clam guard. The pommel is bell shaped with multiple groves. The double edge blade is its most distinct feature, which is finely crafted with a very wide blade have the wasped tip which expands. The blade is beautifully engraved throughout also dated 1667.
